Record of Emotion: The Photographs of Frederick H. Evans and Urban Panoramas: Opie, Liao, Kim Two strikingly different exhibitions centering on man-made structures open at the Getty Center. Evans (English, 1853–1943) focused on medieval cathedrals in England and France; his images are among the most renowned architectural renderings in the history of photography. Urban Panorama highlights work by three contemporary photographers. Minimalls are the subject of Catherine Opie (American, born 1961), while Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao (Taiwanese, born 1977) traces the route of the New York subway. By layering hand-cut chromogenic prints made in Reykjavik at midnight during the summer solstice, Soo Kim (American, born South Korea, 1969) achieves the effect of a semitransparent city. 1200 Getty Center Drive, L.A., 310.440.7300 Map K7
